“Screenplays come in three sizes: LONG, TOO LONG and SERIOUSLY? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? TOO LONG!” ~ Max Adams
COURSE DURATION: This is a 6 week accelerated online master class in screenwriting.
COURSE EMPHASIS: Course emphasis is on condensing story, breaking that story into escalating turning point sequences that break out of the dysfunctional Field 30/60/30 model, creating story focus and a strong driving story plot engine, and fixing slow openings and the second act collapse. You know the second act collapse, right? Right. Let’s fix that.
COURSE EXPECTATIONS: In this course you’ll discover structuring tools and techniques to use in fiction, nonfiction, screenplays, teleplays, and stage plays. Through lectures, clips, script and story analysis, and in-class exercises and assignments, you will learn how to beat out a story line using cause and effect and strong story obstacles that push characters and story, how to beat the pitfalls of the 30/60/30 formula, how to bring new life and vibrancy to your script’s pacing, and how to create dynamic, fast paced scene sequences that open, move and flourish on the page — and on the screen — escalating to a riveting story climax.
