“The time to elevate concept is not when a writer is trying to spruce up a logline for a completed script. The time to elevate concept is before page one of a script is even written.” ~ Max Adams

COURSE DURATION: This is a 6 week accelerated online master class in screenwriting.
COURSE EMPHASIS: Course emphasis is on identifying and taking apart the individual components of a story concept, analyzing them individually, jumping concept elements in weak concept elements, and recombining them in a stronger more exciting overall story concept. Raising story concept overall from the “been there seen that no thanks” slag pile and pushing it straight into the “I have got to read this” fast track pile.
Concept is the single biggest obstacle between writers and reads — and sales. It is all very well to fall in love with a story idea and write it out. It is another to fall in love with a story idea and then stick it out during the uncomfortable phase of working on it harder to make it bigger, badder, stronger, more entertaining and enticing to the world — and to potential readers and players who might take it out into the world.
COURSE EXPECTATIONS: In this course you’ll discover concept tools and techniques you can apply to fiction, nonfiction, screenplays, teleplays, and stage plays. Through lectures, clips, script analysis, and in-class exercises and assignments, you will learn how to identify and take story concept components apart in existing and future concepts And put them back together again in ways that create compelling stronger concepts that garner instant attention.
